Restoring a portal alias when a domain name expires

| Had a situation where a DNN portal was orphaned because the only alias was the OLD domain name and that expired. So you couldn't get to it by the old domain name and there were no other aliases so you couldn't get to is by any other means either.
Thought I would try to to edit the database directly and add an alias for the IP address but it didn't work. Fooled around for half an hour trying to figure out why. Eventually, I recycled the web application pool for that web site - and wahlah! Access restored! |
